[Ducati] Oil level too high?

Gene,
Thanks for that. I was thinking on the same lines. When I change the
hydraulic fluid I use a syringe with fairly small diameter plastic tube
attached to first of all suck out the contents of the reservoir and then to
replenish same with fresh before I bleed the system. So will go down to
the chemists at the weekend to see how big a syringe I can get hold of to
suck the excess out through the filler hole.
Also thanks to Rob for explaining why the oil was slow in reaching its mean
level. I know the first time I did the valve clearances I was surprised
how much came out of the horizontal cylinder valve cover.

I've understood that overfilling is not good (which is why there's a max
line on the sight glass). I, too, have had to address this once or twice.
Here's what worked for me...
Simplest (slowest) way to remove excess is use a drinking straw: plunge it
in and seal top with finger (pretend you're a kid). OK if slightly over
the
max line...
Othewise, siphon with some sort of soft tubing attached to some sort of
syringe (try a hardware store).
Good luck,
Gene
PS - suggest you use a short piece of 2x4 (US) or other such piece of
lumber
under the kickstand to get the bike to sit 'level'. Makes it much easier
to
monitor the filling/removal progress.
