[Ducati] Ohlins rear shock options

Seems to me the Ohlins for the old style bikes eg 916, 996, 998 were available in several levels, a steel body and an aluminum body, meaning one a bit better than the other if only in materials of construction not performance. I am not talking about the three valve versus two meaning one with both high and low speed damping simply one with the body not just remote reservoir made of a aluminum etc. Anyone have a lead on this shock and any details?
