I disagree that it's unfortunate -- companies today live and die by
their cross-marketing. Ducati is a tiny company which has only one
product. The only other motorcycle company which makes ONLY
motorcycles is Harley Davidson. If Ducati has a bad year or two,
they could be sold off and bastardized beyond comprehension (Ducati
Indiana, anyone? Thanks, Cagiva).
The designers and factory workers at Ducati have nothing to do with
the cross-marketing except that it helps them keep their jobs. Why
turn away from a good product because the name is put on something
you personally don't like?
Is man's cologne that offensive to you?
I received a bottle as a gift, and it's not my favorite, but I am
glad to be able to support their efforts.
If you don't want Ducati to do any cross-marketing I suggest you buy
a new bike every year and convince all your friends too -- that way,
Ducati won't need to cross market to help pay the bills.
best,
iz
