[Ducati] the Wave

I know it's juvenile but I once got so irritated a Harley rider at a stoplight who refused to acknowledge my wave that I flipped his kill switch off and slapped the porridge pot over his eyes when the light turned green. We have a couple of "outlaw" types at the refinery I work at that used to refuse to acknowledge me until I started riding the center line, standing on the pegs and waving so frantically that they couldn't possibly ignore me...fellow oil workers and all. Later, Moonbeam
Michael Lemire <ducatiboy at hotmail.com> wrote: I grew up around some rather... How do you say? "Rough" Harley type
individuals. (My father has some ties) "You had better not get a Jap POS"
type advice.
They NEVER waved at "Jap" bikes (that included anything that wasn't a
Harley) and when going to a Rally they usually stopped waving period as we
came into town (so they wouldn't look stupid riding one handed for miles).
I thouhg it funny as hell when other manufacturers started "copying" Harleys
to the point that these guys couldn't tell who they were waving at... Hence
they mostly stopped waving.
When I got a bike (GS550 Suzuki) Most of them recognized me and would give a
slight head nod to my wave. When I got my Ducati it was like they didn't
recognize me anymore, So I would switch my wave as they got close and flip
them off! That got their attention, some guy on a red sportbike giving
1%ers the finger! LOL. Lucky for me they would then recognize me. :)
I still wave, (I don't give the finger anymore, I am too smart and old) even
to Cops and the occasional scooter. I agree that it is a courtesy,
harkening back to Knights on horseback, Be safe, good luck brother, I wish
you no harm.
Thanks for listening to my rather drawn out story. We now return you to
your regularly scheduled list.
