[Ducati] gas tank issues

Hey guys, 
   
  I've got a little problem with my gas tank. The breather hole that comes up through the gas cap has a little rubber thing that creates a seal between the gas cap and the tank. Well it became displaced and with the relatively cold weather we've been having here in the california central valley, the gas tank collapsed in on itself. So 2 things:
   
  1) can I have a body shop pop it out (it is still somewhat collapsed) and repaint it? Or should I even bother with that?
   
  2)If option 1 doesn't work, does anybody here have or know of a place where I can get a gas tank for a 1999 900ss?
