[Ducati] ECU for 999R

I am still looking for an ECU for a 999R.  One lister had the very
precious item but I could not give over the 800$ he needed to part with
it.  Isn't there a place that makes aftermarket ECU's?  Are they even
more expensive?  Perhaps I should buy the full termi for sale on EBAY
for 1300.  I don't know if my 03' R has the big header.  Is there a
place to measure the diameter that would identify it?
