[Ducati] I need your help or should I say,
these kids need your help!

Yesterday was a pretty divisive day amongst our Ducati clan here on the
list.
I guess it's all part of what makes the world go round. Right?
So today I offer you the opportunity to re bond with something that we all
love, motorcycles and helping others that have the same love that we do for
motorcycles.
Except these are kids! These are the kids that slip thought the cracks like
Ron Betts mentioned in one of his earlier posts.
So as a bickering group of elite motorcyclists, lets pull together and make
a difference in one small corner of the world here and now!
First take the time to read this website. It's not first class, but is full
of class!
Look at the energy these kids are putting into a rusting Honda!

Here's a note Rich Desimony the shop teacher sent me after I sent him an
email offering him and the kids some Ducati used parts.
"Art thank you so much for the support and compliment's. The kids love the
project and they are knocking down the door to work on the bike it works
great. I tell them that their teachers need to send me progress reports
weekly to make sure they are up to date on work before they can work on the
bike. It is working great. Hopefully in the next 3 years we (the school)
will be getting new CAD-CAM software and some industrial equipment to
machine cool stuff. I'm working on it. Any way back to your offer, we would
LOVE the brakes, lines and master cyl. I think the front wheel and rotors
would be awesome but I'm not sure we can use it for this project. If this
goes well this year (which it is so far) I have a hot rod sr500 motor and a
748 swing arm to use on next years project!"
Well he's getting all the stuff I promised.
So what can we do as a collective group?
Send these kids parts!
How cool would it be if by some stretch of the imagination they got enough
parts to piece a SBK or an SS together!
More than likely they'd be just as tickled to have an tired old Desmo motor
or a set of heads to dissect and learn from.
So hunt through your garage for that motorcycle stuff that no longer has
a use and sent it to someone who will get more mileage from it than it will
sitting on a shelf. Send rich an email at richied at nycap.rr.com to see if he
can use what you have, or just write the kids on their website and let them
know what you think of their project.
We are a world wide group here. Can you guess what the reaction would be if
these kids got emails from the UK, Germany, Japan, etc.
Also dealers and vendors see what you can do for these kids as well.
Especially if your in the New York area. Spread the word.......
Ask Rich if you can get a tax write off for the donation. I know schools
used to do this. I haven't ask him about this yet because it doesn't pertain
to me and my situation. As far as shipping goes the school will pick it
up.
Lastly Rich has no idea that I'm posting this here, so every donation of
parts and every email sent will make a huge impact to this teacher and his
students.
Thanks all, for letting me rant!
My way! : )
