[Ducati] Oil screen on 996

Hi,
I started to do an oil change on my 996 at lunch time as the weather
looked great for a warm up ride (been a bit grey and wet around here)
This will be the second oil change for me, the first time I didn't
remove the oil screen, so I thought I better this time. The oil screen
has cover with an allen key socket (unlike the bolt on the 916). I
removed the cover ok, but the screen doesn't want to budge with
reasonable force (again unlike the 916 one which just comes out without
needing to be un-screwed). Any hints here? What is the screen made of?
If it's plastic I don't want to break it trying to undo it.
