Hey Listers,
I just bought an Ohlins '04 999r rear shock for my '03 999 mono (12k
miles on the clock) and have been looking at the Ohlins options for
upgrading the front suspension. The cartridge kit at $300 is at the low
end and seems like a great value as it just gets scary from there from
what I have seen: next level is $1500 for the fork innards w/ springs
and cartridges, then it goes to $2500 for the full R&T assembly with
tubes & sliders, then heads up to the sublime/ridiculous for the full
monty track setup, which only costs half - half of everything I own due
to immediate and sudden divorce! I strafe the local canyons at a fun
but relatively sane level, and envision doing trackdays if I ever get a
breather from work. What would you guys recommend - Ohlins or other -
for good value/quality compromise for a mostly on-road rider who's not
quite ready to lose the wife ~:]
