[Ducati] 95 900 SS frame cracks

I contacted my 'local' Ducati dealer last year regarding my 96' 900ss/cr. 
Ducati is willing to warranty the frame under two scenarios
1) the shop performs the frame swap and you pay the labor, but Ducati covers 
frame cost.
2) You provide bare frame to same dealer, Ducati will replace under warranty 
but time frame of replacement becomes a little more vague, and offering your 
dealer a gratuity for handling the exchange couldn't hurt considering they are 
handling the exchange but not performing the 'labor'. 
But they seem to be receptive to replacing the frame, it may be the dealers 
attitude that varies by region.
