[Ducati] "Breakaway" helmets

Hey, Bruce -

Generally speaking, helmets are *entirely* designed to self-destruct, giving
their lives to save your head, as it were.  I don't have any specific
information, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if vents and faceplate
retainers and other miscellaneous bits and pieces were designed to "break
away".  My Arai Quantum had the little plastic vent deflector thingy on top
fall off after about a year and a half after a minor jolt.  I ended up
taping over the vent holes because without the deflector thingy the helmet
whistled like a tin flute.  =)
