 That answers the question.  They probably cut the seat foam down  on the 
smaller cc bikes, something they also did with Monsters.  I may need  to get some 
height out of a rental bike at the factory this week for one of the  Motogiro 
attendee's so that would be one way to do it (switch seats as well as  lower 
it).

750SS seat height is 812mm. Don't have 620 in my manual  (not sure if it
was available 2001/02), but 900 seat height is 8mm higher.  Hope a 1000SS
owner can provide dimension for this model to complete your  info.
