Yes, I have a plethora of experience with these sensors. First of all,
It is probably not the sensor itself. My problem after much searching
turned out to be the wires. In particular, look at the wire where it
lies
along the edge of the case inside. It may not be pinched this time but
examine the wires to locate a place where the case crushed it. Here is
next big thing. Like you said, the sensor is simple but it not just a
switch. It is polarized (that is the wires can not be reversed. I
fixed mine and had the wires reversed (unknown). The motor would start
but when you got to about 2000rpm, that cylinder would die. I never
would have found it if an experieinced mechanic at a duc shop in Kansas
City hadn't recognized the problem. It has run great ever since but
that was a bi-atch. good luck
