[Ducati] 05 749 stock exhaust mods

I've just done an exhaust for my '06 749
Looked at that "cored out" system they offer.
The contact at Motowheels (Stephano) confirmed that the sound is very
"tinny"
This is what other customers have complained about
I went with the last Half Termi system they had, just ordered up about 3
weeks ago
I'm very happy with the results with the half Termi. Although they sent me
the wrong front pipe (it was for the deep sump motors) Didn't let me know
until after I tried cutting and welding to make it fit. didn't work out
very well (frustrating)
So, now, I have the Termi muffler with the cored out stock pipes( You just
cut the front pipe in the middle of the CAT and clean out the cat material,
stainless and platinum cat...use the heat shield bolted back in as your
guide to get a perfect weld again). You can see where the cat is by the
location of the heat shield. the rear pipe is already open, there is no
cat.
The OD AND thickness of the termi pipe and stock pipe are identical, the
Termi is rounded all over and the stock pipe gets a little square to clear
the swingarm but also widens out a bit. Effectivley the same flow after you
remove the cat.
So, bottom line is if you want the "Ducati" sound and not a tinny, kinda
cheap sound just get the full termi or go for the Zard full system. That
tinny sound comes from removing the baffling inside the stock muffler and
preforating the exit pipes inside. You can probably do this yourself as
well as the pipe mod, I had access to a master welder, I wouldn't have done
it all by myself.
Shoot MotoWheels an email and try and get that half Termi slip-on kit from
them. Or when they will be shipping the next batch. Then get a power
Commander as well, because you don't wanna run any engine lean. You will
probably benefit even with a power commander with the stock exhaust. The
maps are different enough for the stock setup and you will knotice a
difference.
I purchased both and I'm really happy with the results. This is probably
the only quality kit (fit and finish, the Zard system does not retain the
factory hard line for the signals/brake light/etc.. you can look at the pics
from Motowheels website) you can purchase for about $2000.
Otherwise the full Termi is like 3500, and like I said, the Zard is a great
system.....but I didn't like the fit and finish on the bike.
Ah yea, and after the half system....waaay less heat on your bum
Hope that helps, and ask if you wanna know more

Has any one done modifications to or had done to stock 05,749 exhaust.
There
is a company that does this, Motowheels.com. I am interested in the results
as far as sound, and heat reduction. It seems to be a lot cheaper than
aftermarket exhaust which promise maybe 5 HP. Also any ECU mods to be done
with
stock exhaust mods. Any other sites or information would be greatly
appreciated.
