Well, I'm sure a forged magnesium SSS is much lighter than a steel DSS, but I suppose from a practical sense DSS is a better design in spite of the fact that it doesn't look as cool as a SSS.

SSS is heavier than DSS yes?

Not true and part of the mythos that was Foggy. Foggy, in '97 or '98
insisted there was flexing in the SSS so Ducati made up a DSS for a 916 for him to
test. Result? There was no discernable difference. However, seeing as how
Ducati has developed a DSS that is just as strong or stronger and lighter in
weight there really is no need to return to a SSS. The advantage of faster
tire changes for racing is even moot nowadays.
It's highly unlikely that Ducati would return to a SSS on their flagship
Superbike even if they retain it on the current crop of Monsters and
MultiStrada-saurous'.
These images are fanciful conjectures that seem like wishful thinking of
fans of the old 916 to me more than anything else.

I'm actually suspicious of the SS Swing-arm...Causes me to wonder if this
is *really* the next Ducati Superbike. Do you all think Ducati will go
back to a SSS?... I thought the race teams insisted on double-sided
swingarms(?)
