[Ducati] 1999 996S question

You heard good advice, as to the soltion to your problem. The problem you speak of is common to all USA versions of the 996S bikes. Remembering that the 996S is the same ( in all  but two aspects) as the 996SPS. The two exceptions of course are (1) the actual motor, which most Ducatisit know about. The 996S motor is a "Strada" version, exactly the same as the 996 Strada/Biposto. However, the second area of difference between the 996S and the 996SPS is the computer. The SPS computer and chip are designed and set up to specifcally run the new four (4) injectors found on the 996 enngine and from what I have been told, perform very well on the SPS edition due to this computer/chip match up. However, the 996 and 996S with the "Strada" engine also have the four (4) injectors but they have a different computer and chip and that computer/chip combination was not designed specifically or set up to run the four (4) injectors. Therefore, if you turn off two of the injectors and install a new chip specifically design to run a two (2) Ducati injector motor (like the 916), it realy smoothes out, adds a little power (2-3Bhp) and totally removes your hesitation problems at lower RPMs. The entire procedure takes less than 25 minutes start to finish.

hi mate i own 996s y2k in uk .i have olins rear+ showa rear .it has slight  
miss fire about 4000rpm been told to disconnect 2 of injectors and change chip  
.have you heard anything about that
