[Ducati] 1999 996S question

specific usa info i don't know for sure, but:  the only 996S that had the SPS engine was the '01 euro model.  as i understood it there were usa only 996S prior to that (we certainly never got any), being basically sps chassis with strada engines.  sps cammed engines were never sold as road legal normal models in the usa like they were over here.

and they all have the same pistons (and heads and valves).  they just down rated the '01 996 for some reason.
