"Gibernau sustained concussion when he was thrown over the handlebars of his
Ducati at over 120mph when his front brake lever caught the back of
team-mate Loris Capirossi. The Desmosedici failed to stop instantly as it
slid on the white line that marks the pit exit, but upon contact with the
tarmac, the bike stopped instantly.

"The Spaniard was thrown face first into the ground, smashing his helmet and
fracturing his left collarbone before tumbling into the gravel. Frenchman
Randy de Puniet was the first to the sceen, and upon arrivel, the Kawasaki
rider later told reporters that Gibernau was lucid but talking nonsense."
Maybe my "Sete recovers" comment is more far-fetched than I thought. Thrown
face-first into the ground. Ouch. And his broken collarbone apparently
*already* had a steel plate in it, and now they'll replace that with a
larger one.

"Only after this operation will it be possible to confirm when Gibernau can
race again, but he will certainly miss the next round in the Netherlands."

If things don't go well, he may not be back at all...
