[Ducati] No traction control after all...

Yes, I heard it. Barber's was enlightening for those still in doubt. And
Ducati's TC isn't done this way so they can't hide it, sadly, cheating isn't an
option. :-)

FWIW, this morning's meeting of the conspiracy theory telephone coffee club
had an interesting thought. That the AMA planted the Cycle News article so
they could serve notice that they were going to take an active interest in the
subject and give all interested parties a chance to decide how they wanted to
proceed under the threat of genuine inspection. "Any machine suspected of
utilizing prohibited traction control devices is subject to impounding for
further technical evaluation at AMA headquarters (Section C, Equipment Offenses
and Penalties, subsection 2, page 61.)"

As a business, with new owners, so to speak, AMA Pro Racing is in an
precarious position. They have to fix something that is seriously broken, without
pissing anybody off, without running anybody off and without causing any screw
ups that make the "new owners" look like the idiots they are presumed to be
by virtue of the jobs they hold. And all while trying to put the series in the
black. The job description is "catch a falling knife". Nobody expects
anything but continued poor performance but it simply cannot continue, rules must
be reworked and enforced, manufacturers must be forced into some sort of
parity.

Personally, I enjoy the series, the characters, the color and the atmosphere
of the race weekends. But not the competition. So I truly hope the
conspiracy has begun....

Bulls#!t!!!!!!!

Suzuki's been using "engine management" as traction control for two years.
You were at Barber, Vicki....didn't you notice something funny about the
sound of two Suzukis (and only two..the ones that were 1-1.5 seconds per lap
quicker than everything else) as they went from full lean to upright entering the
front straight? Ba.ba.ba.ba.ba.ba.ba
bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Yate's bike didn't sound like that, and he was hazing the heck out of
the rear on corner exits. Suzuki are cutting time or cylinders (probably
cylinders, it sounds like a soft rev limiter) and I'll lay odds they're doing it
based on change in engine RPM over time using signal from a crank speed trig
ger. There is no question in my mind that they're masquerading traction
control in engine management clothing. Maybe it's time for the others to simply
cheat with Suzuki.

My two cents,

Cloner....not a cheater, but willing to learn.
