I had the same problem last year and purchased a complete fuel pump assy
from Mark Hatten at Wounded Duc.com . Nice guy too but a little too big to
be a racer - hah! :-)

Subject: [Ducati] 748/916/996: WTD: fuel level sensor

I took apart my 996 earlier tonight to check on a fuel
leak, thinking that it was likely one of the
quick-release fittings. I was pretty surprised to
find that the leak was coming from the fuel level
sensor. The plastic nut holding it to the tank split,
and the gas is weeping from there. I checked the
parts fiche, and the nut doesn't appear to available
as a separate part.
On the off chance that my local dealer won't have one
in stock, does anyone know of an online parts dealer
with a decent inventory, or perhaps knows someone who
has a used one they'd like to sell? I only need the
nut, so the sensor itself doesn't even have to work.

Thanks!
