Boy, if that was for a car, it would be so incredibly illegal here in the 'states.

Indeed. However, it is interesting that the Ducati Performance kit for the S4Rs does away with the cat/collector (and presumably the 02 sensor since it's located there) and includes an replacement ECU...

  Well, the nice thing about an ECU with an O2 sensor, in theory at least, is that you don't have to change the fuel mapping whenever you change the exhaust system or cut open the intake box, etc. The ECU should automatically compensate for these changes.
