I made this swap last year...my answers below:
>>>Will I need to use a superbike bottom axle?
Yes
>>>Can the SS axle be used?
No
>>>Will I need to use a superbike front wheel?
No, I replaced the bearings in the stock SS wheel to fit the 25mm axle
>>>If I do use a SS front wheel can I use different bearings and a spacer?
Yes, but I had to calculate and fit a shim under one of the bearings to get the correct 'sandwich' of the bearings & spacer.
>>>What part number are the bearings?
I used Koyo bearings p/n 60052RS available from a local bearing supply store
>>>Do you sell the bearings?
Try any bearing supply outfit
>>>Do you sell the spacer?
I bought a new on from my local Duc dealer
Can I use my SS speedo gear/spacer?
I bought a new speedo drive for a 25mm axle, took both apart and put the SS guts into the larger drive housing
>>>Do I need to use a Superbike Speedo/spacer?
I ended up using a SB axle washer or two as spacers between the speedo drive & fork in order to get the rotors centered in the calipers
>>>Will my SS brake calipers bolt right up?
Not if you're using forks with the 65mm spacing, I bought earlier SB forks with the 'same as SS' 40mm spacing
>>>Will my SS brake rotors bolt right up?
Yes
Hope that helps, YMMV !!

Subject: [Ducati] CycleCat DTC-1 Questions
I have some questions from any of you that have done the 900SS
Superbike front fork swap out there.
I purchased the DTC-1 triple for my 900SS (1996) project some time
ago... I haven't gotten around to swapping the forks until this
weekend and I have to say I'm surprised!
1. They quality on the product is excellent... perfect in every way.
2. The installation instructions sucked... there were 2 steps.. super
vague. With the quality and beauty of the products you would think
Cycle Cat might put the same effort into the instructions... pictures
would help too.
3. There's nothing about the next steps...
Will I need to use a superbike bottom axle?
Can the SS axle be used?
Will I need to use a superbike front wheel?
If I do use a SS front wheel can I use different bearings and a spacer?
What part number are the bearings?
Do you sell the bearings?
Do you sell the spacer?
Can I use my SS speedo gear/spacer?
Do I need to use a Superbike Speedo/spacer?
Will my SS brake calipers bolt right up?
Will my SS brake rotors bolt right up?
These are all the questions I have.
Currently I have the 996 forks installed in the triples... it fits
perfect and looks even better!
I put the 996 axle and a 996 front wheel on it... but I haven't
tightened it down... Is the spacing correct?
If I tighten the axle will it bend my fork tubes? Damage the forks?
Or do I have to use my SS front wheel with different bearings?
Thanks for all your help.
Pete
P.S. I sent the same questions to Cyclecat... figured I would ask
"the audience" these question too.
