Depends.  Having it done at the dealer will be top dollar but location counts, I  can save money by having my service done in Chico rather than the Bay Area in California.  I also remove the faring myself and do what I can, oil changes etc and just have them do the specialized stuff they do best.  Now that my bike is off the warranty I have it serviced by an independent shop owned by a former Ducati Mechanic in Chico who has opened his own shop.  So, it pays to shop around and there is no reason that a reasonably adept person can't do the minor maintenance themselves....just don't screw it up.  Hope this helps, Mike D. Bike
