A large dose of serendipity late last Friday afternoon had me scrambling for some
clean clothes, road cash and sunscreen. Greg Calhoun, (Sofia's Last Dance MCN
2005) had called from Birmingham with the offer of a plane ticket and track passes,
as he had gotten a bit of bad news concerning a family member's health and wasn't
going to be able to make the show at Laguna Seca. Tweleve hours later I was driving
through the early morning darkness out of Atlanta to catch an all day flight from
Birmingham. A $100 van ride from San Jose to Carmel Valley and I was standing on
the deck of Hill House enjoying a micro-brew with complete strangers. What transpired
over the next thirty hours was pure magic. Yes it was hot and dusty at the track.
And yes I was pretty shagged after tramping around the infield all day, but what
an experience! Certainly one I will never forget.
The hospitality of Peter and George, as well as, the kindness of all of the fine
folks at Hill House will never be forgotten.

You folks rock! And Greg, if you are reading this, props to you for your
generosity. Finally, it goes without saying, if any of you make it out to Barber
Motorsports Park or Road Atlanta, I'll buy you a beer, but it
won't be anything like the tasty offerings from the Half Moon Brewing Company
and the other varieties you shared with me.

Kindest regards,
Lloyd Horton
