Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Joie Chitwood said progress is being
made on two future races at the track.

The other race would be for motorcycles, likely in 2009. Chitwood attended
last weekend's MotoGP World Championship race in Monterey, Calif., for the
second year in a row and came away feeling more optimistic than ever that he
understands the sport's landscape well enough to host an event.

If a race were held in 2009, it would be the 100th anniversary of the
track's first motorized event, which was a motorcycle race.
