[Ducati] 996: Tips/tricks to checking vert exhaust valves?

I use an old, thin walled, socket driver.  The kind with a screwdriver  
handle and a 6 point socket permenantly attached to the shaft.  I just  catch the 
corner of the closing rocker with the edge of the socket,  and  push down to 
get my measurements.  Its tricky, but there is enough room  using this approach. 
 Nice thing with the socket is that it doesn't slip  off as easily as a 
screwdriver.  Be careful with the screwdriver as you can  damage a valve seal if it 
slips.
