There is a company called Time Sert, The spelling may be wrong. They make a 
kit for just those kind of situations. It comes with a long drill bit, and 
if I'm not mistaking its a reverse bit, an extra long tap and an insert tool 
and inserts. Ive use them in the past and they have really saved my butt 
before....!
