Hey Ya'll -
Peter has been plugging our brainchild for the past few days. I just wanted
add a few words to what has been said.
Iff'n ya has ever been to Lagooner for the races, you know what a PIA it is
to find a commercial venue in the area where you can have dinner, drinks and
conversation with a group any larger than 8 or 10. Besides the logistics of
finding a place that has enough room, you still have to make sure that
everyone knows about it. Add to the mix the rigidity or total absence of
reservation times, pressure not to linger, marginal food, lousy service and
big and complex tab splitting and you can see why Peter and I came up with
the idea of the Hill House as Ducati Central Off-Track.
For the past 2 years, we have reserved the HH expressly for the purpose of
providing a no-nonsense place for Ducatisti to meet, greet, eat, drink and
carry-on in any manner you see fit (providing it isn't too rowdy). For a
lousy $10 (compare that to the last tab you paid in town) you get as much
home made food as you can handle (a mix of Peter's New Mexico cooking and my
award winning chili and spaghetti plus all the fixin's), craft brewed beers
from Peter's very talented home-brewing son and two special flavors from the
ultra cool Half Moon Bay Brewery (Big Lister Alec Moss is the Brew Master)
and, iff'n ya can handle 'em, one of Peter's infamous gin martinis. (A
couple of these and ya'll be doin' da moon walk.)
Those who have been dere in da past know exactly what I'm talkin' 'bout.
Iff'n ya ride a Ducati, git yur ass over to da HH at Los Laureles Lodge
(http://www.loslaureles.com/) Friday night. Introduce yourself to the folks
you only know by their lousy e-mail postings. Rub elbows some of the most
illustrious people associated with Ducati you will ever have an opportunity
meet. Me and Peter for two. :-)
And if that's not enough - ya may see Paul Ritter, Frank Scurria (Frank -
we'll have an autograph table set up for ya out by da hot tub), LSR
contender and the worlds fastest clutch cover manipulator - Hans Mellberg.
Tim Keyes and his infamous brother Tom are sure to be there as will Tom
O'Mahony (owner of the world's cleanest Darmah). Don't miss seeing the
world's fastest Tripod (Kurt Weir) in captivity. (Hey Andy Smith - ya'll
best show up or I'll tell everyone ya got a Harley.) The parking lot will be
full of bevels, Pantahs and belties.
As Peter has mentioned, I would like to have an idea of how many to expect
so we can be sure we have enough for all ya'll. So - iff'n yur comin'',
gimme a note. Also, If yur drivin' please park at the bottom of da hill and
walk up. We can roll ya down at the end of the night.
For those lookin' for an alternative to da Hindu Hilton you have reserved,
we have one bed open and a few spaces on the sofas. Contact me off-list for
these. I also have one Three-day ticket with paddock pass available.
Anyway, enough chatter - LET'S GITTER DONE as we say in da south.
