What a great race!
Unfortunately for Hayden, and early error led to his finishing way back, but
wasn't Melandri courageous in his push for second place after Pedrosa took
the lead and opened up a gap? Rossi showed again what a great talent he is
as he rode through to his eventual second place, while Stoner managed to
avoid the crash fests he has had to finish 4th and Kenny Robot Jr. coming in
5th, after being up in 3rd for a good bit. But Pedrosa was the class of the
field, nearly running off at the hairpin and then coming thru to just take a
dominating lead at the end, leaving the rest to fight for second place.
Capirossi was still hurting but managed to hang onto 8th, after being ahead
of Hayden for awhile. Unfortunately Hayden couldn't catch Edwards after the
bad start Hayden made, so Rossi and Pedrosa gained some good ground on
Hayden for the championship. But Alex Hoffman was absolutely no where,
despite being on the works Ducati. Sure makes one wonder why he is out there
on the bike. But then I still am wondering why Sete was ever on the
bike................

Now with Laguna Seca coming in three weeks with Sachsenring (Germany) coming
in two weeks, everyone gets a little breather to be fitter. Hopefully this
will help the sorely wounded Capirossi who has yet to spring back from his
injuries as fellow Italians Rossi and Melandri. The big question is, will
Rossi be fit enough to do his best at Laguna, and if so, will he beat
Hayden? Certainly last year, it was close at the end as Rossi came up on
Edwards in second place, but now Rossi has some time riding at Laguna,
whereas the 250 class graduates will not have seen the place before, making
life more difficult for Pedrosa and Stoner. Hayden's home track advantage
will certainly be diminished some by those who have been there before, same
for Edwards who had his career best finish at Laguna Seca last year.

So it seems that with this bad weekend, Rossi and Pedrosa are certainly in
the hunt for the championship, and Hayden may watch it slip away.
