- Tank removal is like preparing your tax return
- Instrument panel can leak and or can have condensation
- Fuel readings are non-existing ... once you fill-up, reset the trip to '0'
and refuel at 130/140 DO IGNORE the fuel readings.
- mirrors are ok if you have a 2005 or newer
- some 2005 have 2003 sidestands which are horrible. I got mine replaced
under warranty.
- factory suspensions are way off. I had mine re-set at the DESMO oil spill
... (THANK YOU DESMO)
WATCH OUT for front brake shudder ...

Gabriel! Welcome to the wonderful world of MultiStrada ...
1. Yes, as I understand it, you must remove the whole tank/seat assembly to
remove the riders seat (I haven't done it yet).
2. Sounds like your dash is defective. There were many defects in that dash
(although I haven't heard of this particular one).
3. The fuel gauge (and thus all the mpg, miles to go on tank, etc functions)
are worthless. They blame it on the convoluted shape of the gas tank. (ps.
I've put over 4.5 Gallons in my tank ... Find another dealer?)
4. All motorcycle speedo's are crap. They all read high. My Multistrada is
just under 10% (according to the GPS).
How can any motorcycle where factory suggested compression damping (rear
shock) is "full soft" be said to have good suspension?
How're your mirrors?
How's your kickstand?
pps. I love my MS1000 also ... Hey, it's a Ducati!
ppps. Have you checked out www.multistrada.net ? All your answers are there
in the forums.

issues that I cannot figure out. Maybe the good folk here at the list can
answer them for me.

the shop manual is that it seems the whole tank assembly has to come off and
then somehow you can address the seat removal from there. Is this so??
Please advise.

> 2) My instruments do not work for $hit. The toggle button (B) will
toggle down the different functions but when I stop toggling for one second
the console goes back to showing mileage and the check engine light goes on.
At this time the toggle (B) button has no effect and I am unable to get
anything to happen until I turn off the bike and turn it back on. But that
only gets me back to where I was with the same instrument woes. So
basically all the functions, including the trip-o-meter are useless.

'normal' Multistrada characteristic?
>
> Are problems with the instrument cluster inherent with 2004
Multistradas? Would DNA replace or somehow fix the problem even thought the
bike is no longer under warranty? My dealer has reset the computer 2 times
to try to fix the problem but to no avail and it does not seem they want to
go any further in addressing the issue, even though I bought the bike (used)
from them.

> 3) The fuel gauge empty light goes on when I have used only 2.5
gallons of fuel. This is very annoying as I get paranoid I will soon run
out of gas even though there should be plenty. I asked the dealer how much
gas does the tank hold and he said only 3.5 gallons. But the manual says 20
liters (about 5 gallons?). What's the real scoop here?
