Thanks. I first tried a 1 3/16" socket, and it was a bit too big, so I tried a 1 1/8" and it fits fine. I forgot that the measurment across the flats was something like 28.5mm, not 29mm. I had originally looked for a 28mm socket, but no such animal exists, so I went for a 29mm socket instead, but could not find oue. Thanks for all your help.

Maybe not - Depends on the tolerance of both the socket & the applicable
nut - I've actually had some English measurement sockets fit better on
Metric nuts - Worth a try, especially if they'll walk out to the parking lot
to try it. This does tend to work more on the large size fasteners which is
the area where you are.

1.125" would be too small, right?

29mm = ~1-1/8 inch, methinks.
Or, to be exact, 1.14173 inches.
Good luck.

I just want to confirm that the front axle nut size on my 2002 900 SS is
actually 29mm. That's what I measured anyway. It's a difficult size to find.
I went to Sears, and while they had a place for them, none were in stock. No
other stores that I tried had one either. I need it today or I have to
cancel getting my new Dunlop Qualifiers on my bike tomorrow. A friend has
tire mounting and balancing equipment.
