If interested look on Arch's site to see a simple rocker shaft pulling tool I have made for about 5 bucks worth of parts. Remember not to pull the rocker shaft out too far...I think eyeballing it is maybe 3/8ths or so maybe 10 mm. If you pull it out too far you will then have to wrestle with the closing springs. Note, you are pulling out the cam by unbolting the cam bearing housings on right side. I thought you were going to describe installing the new collets. That is the work...pulling cams and sliding rocker out of the way the easy part. Might also be worth noting that if you are installing new collets you are likely going to have to readjust shims. If you can not get cam in or it is tight. likely cause the clearance is too tight. A well adjusted clearance you should be able to roll cam over by hand. Esp if you use Corsa closing springs. If it it tight, likely a clearance is not rght. I have also found sometimes shims do not seat properly could be opener or closer but
more often closer and that makes cam tight on rocker. If you measure and all should be fine but it still seems tight it is likely because a shim is not seating take the tight one loose and do it again. Watch those shims....an opener can fall all the way down into cases through head. Best to stick a lint free rag back in head to catch any errant bits and keep magnet handy.
But all in all good info for folks trying to do this work for first time. Lots of little gotchas to keep an eye on but something most can do if they want. Rich

Hi Barry,
I just replaced all my stock half rings with MBP retainers, so the procedure
is fresh in my mind. Actually its quite simple. Just pull out the opening
rocker on the right side. To do this you must have a 5 mm puller tool. You
pull out the spindle that holds the opener rocker. At the same time you are
pulling stick you fingers in and hold the rocker so it wont fall down. If it
does slip out of your fingers, use a strong magnet to grab it and pull it
out. Once the opening rocker is out on the right side, undo the two 6 mm
bolts that hold the cam into the head and pull the cam out. You may have to
rotate it a bit to get it out. With the cam out you can easily check all the
rocker surfaces.
Installation is a bit trickier. You want to intall the opening rocker
partially on the right side. Line up the rocker hole with the hole in the head.
Slip the rocker pin through the hole and into the rocker. Tap the rocker pin
slightly just so the rocker is held in position. Do not tap the rocker pin
all the way in. Let the rocker rest to the side of the opening shim, not on
top of it. If you seat the rocker pin all the way in at this time, you will
have a hard time getting the cam back in. Now install the cam. Rotate the
lobes the correct orientation to get the cam past all the rocker arms. Once
installed, then lift the opening rocker with your finger while at the same
time tapping the spindle. This will move the rocker over on top of the shim.
The cam should be in the position of TDC when the belts are on. Be careful
that the rocker is indeed over the top of the shim while tapping the spindle.
If you dont seem to have clearance, check the position of the cam. If you
cant push the cam all the way in cause its hitting on the left side opening
rocker, you can take the left side cam cover off. It will let the cam deflect
just a bit to allow the cam to be pushed in all the way. Then put the cover
back on. Make sure you line up the oil hole in the cam cover with the hole
in the head bearing. (Dont put the cover in 180 degrees to what it should
be).
Hope this helped you.
