As per Mr Martin special method, they seated in the first 30 seconds of
engine operation.
His method gave us 225psi worth of compression!!!! Something not common to a
poor sealing ring.
The materials today are so hard that the finish hone is so fine that they
seat pretty fast.
Way back in my car days 600 to 700 was common finish, for cast iron blocks
with Chrome Molly faced rings.
They too sealed in the first couple of minutes of operation, Thirty years
ago! : )
