i saw the australian price for the 1098 in one of the magazines the other day and if memory seves me correctly they're cheaper out here in number terms than the 916 was. have to be a bit less than the 999. not sure, but i'll try to remember to ask one of the sales guys tomorrow. maybe they'v truly made it cheaper to make. or maybe they've trimmed the factory/importer/dealer margins a little to help lower the price, planning on the sell more at less profit per unit deal. who knows. maybe given dna is a wholly owned subsidury of dmh the 'importer' margin doesn't actually need to be very much, cutting out a fair chunk of mark up. realistically, if it retails for us$15k it'd cost us$8 or 9k to make? 10 max.
it'll piss 999 owners off (unless everyone decides they want 999s now, might happen) when they try to trade up tho.
my boss did the australian intro at eastern creek earlier this week. highsided his - apparantly it's rather second hand. i'm told we own it, so was hoping we can get it to display it in the window - for sale, 1 owner, low km. first trowelled 1098 in the world? he has the usual broken collarbone and ribs.
