[Ducati] 1098 price

I don't know that I would use those words "build up sales" as opposed to taking advantage of an already large market. 
 
More like, because of the size of the market the economies of scale come into play and although per unit profit is down, overall profit will likely rise because of volume in an already large market.  Ducati' see the US as their largest market.

"A standard technical definition of dumping is the act of charging a lower price for a good in a foreign market than one charges for the same good in a domestic market" 
 
This is the sense of the word I meant. In Italy, and the rest of the world other than the US, the 1098 costs the same as the 999 did. In the US, they have lowerd the price to a level far below the domestic market level in order to build up sales in the US.
