[Ducati] Misc ponderings about regulators

The rectifier is a bridge of one way diodes that, along with the battery, convert AC into DC. True, the higher the current through the rectifier the greater the chance of a diode failure but the rectifier is built to handle the total power generated by the alternator, the regulator is only meant to handle a portion of the power on the assumption that the power consumed is close to the power generated. It is when the power generated is a lot higher than the power consumed that the regulator is asked to handle more power than it is designed for and you can expect failure. Later, Mike D. Bike

case since it's an integrated unit?
I mean, isn't it really still a Catch 22?
