acording to the illustrated ducati buyers guide:
" for 1991 base model was updated with upside -down showa forks and a ohlins shock. basic styling remained unaltered , but the fuel tank shape was altered.technical changes included an increse in reservior capacity in both break and clutch master cylinders. the sp3 replaced th sp2 major alterations included hi-level exhaust, upgrated front break and clutch master cylinders(as per standard verson described above)and a number of smaller changes.to meet increased demand following doug polins 1991 world superbike title a total of fifty corsas were built." looks to me reading furtherthe standard 851 was restyled.
