A number of years ago I got a tour of the F-18A assembly line including the
composite build-up rooms. It puts "Carbon Fiber" in a whole new light. The
junk that passes for it today in our applications quickly becomes a joke
when you realize what it should be when done properly.

If memory serves me, YF-12A was the recon version of the SR71 Interceptor

  My favorite is still the F16.  Such a wonderful design.
  My dad was lucky enough to hitch a ride in one in Ft. Worth years ago.
The assy line down there is incredible and steeped with so much history.
