Thanks for the heads up! To get something in place, I just booked (w/  
credit card confirmation) an econo lodge in Salinas (as close to the  
track as Monterey, if not exactly picturesque, and the Mexican food  
is great!) for $60 thursday & sunday nights, and $98/night for friday  
& saturday. Got these rates  through www.hotellocators.com's   
1.800.423.7846 phone number. No websites i checked would book  
reservations that far out. Better jump on something now unless you  
want to pay $300 per night!
