Hi "4yankeez",

This is purley a function of volume. Ducati has sold enough units that
they have effectively saturated the market. People willing to pay big
$$$$$ for an exotic Italian have already done so. Thus, the spill over
Ducatis that "have" to be sold keep having their prices reduced. It's
purely a function of supply outpacing demand.

It all started just before Y2K with the influx of the "new" SS.
Suddenly, the SS model wasn't able to easily fetch $10~11 k, so they
would discount the bikes to move them. At that point, "nice"
carbureted SSs suddenly lost $2000~3000 in value, dropping from 7~8000
to 5~6000. As the 996 was produced in big numbers, the 916 and 996
used market started tanking.

Now, there are so many Ducatis on the road, that the whole used market
is now resembling the Japanese used bike market.

I'd be interested in your PS, but not for any price remotely resembling "fair".

;) Chris
