Well, as our List sage, Archie, used to say (paraphrasing): "This here is a forum of opinions."
Appears to me as though a few posters did what Mike Major did in his original post (below)...
it's all about posting one's opinion.
Even posting opinions re: the opinions of others.
Most of the time we all try to ride easy in harness when we read the opinions of others.
Other times we just can't help ourselves. ;)
And the beat goes on, eh?

I just got back from Laguna Seca and was not impressed. This year I attended the Superbike races at Infinion and the difference was amazing. Infinion had plenty of places to watch the races, with excellent views, at Laguna Seca you had to pay extra to watch them on a jumbo-tron, on bleachers that would be an embarrassment to a junior hi football program and all you could see of the track was the straightaway right in front of you. The place reminded me of Sears Point 30 years ago, with worse parking and views.
Ducati Island was fine as a place to hang out and check out bikes, meet fellow ducatisti etc. I appreciated the coffee and snacks but it was hot as hell, there was a shortage of water and very limited places to sit.
The gear check was a good Idea but because the races always seemed to happen just as the gear check was shutting down, you couldn't see squat from the Island, I always found my self returning from my vantage point as the race was concluding. Because the Ducati folks insisted on shutting down the island and gear-check on their own schedule (I don't know where they thought they were going in the traffic jam) and I wanted to see the superstock and supersport races at the end I found myself, after having to relocate my bike then lug all my gear to a vantage point where I could see the bikes and aforementioned jumbo-tron, standing in a pool of sweat and swearing never again. Later, Mike D. Bike.

Hey, Giuseppe:
Nobody was bitching at Ducati or Ducati Island, or Ducati Island volunteers, or Ducati Island organizers ... Did you read the post?

Someone was bitching about Ducati Island not having enough shady space for
50,000 people, and also bitching about their lack of water for one of the
hottest, unexpected heat waves to hit the area.
Before I left on Thursday to go to Laguna Seca, I checked weather
underground and accuweather, which all said highs of about 83 degrees over
the weekend. SO, first of all, no one expected the heat, and water doesn't
magically appear when we want it.
Second, and some of you already know this, Ducati does NOT control their
water supply at Laguna Seca. In fact, Ducati CANNOT provide its own water
All the water MUST be supplied through Coca Cola at inflated prices. So, if
you're gonna bitch at anyone, bitch at Coca Cola, not at Ducati.
Lastly, if you're gonna bitch and you think YOU can do it better, put your
name on the volunteer list, and let the organizers know you'll magically
solve whatever problems crop up next year.
I thought that, given the circumstances, the response to the heat was as
well as anyone could have done.
